What should you do after a car accident? Are you looking for an accident lawyer near you? Do you have questions about car accident injury settlement amounts? Are you worried because the insurance company refuses to pay your auto claim? Do you wonder, "should I get an attorney after a car accident?" These are complicated questions that can be difficult to answer.

Our office has conducted free workshops in other areas of the law, such as divorce, custody and family law. With the changes imposed by Covid-19, we have taken our workshops online. This month, we are adding a workshop designed to provide information about victims’ rights after a car accident. We also want to provide initial guidance to those who want to settle a personal injury case without a lawyer so that they may understand some of the issues and processes they will be dealing with along the way.

This workshop describes what makes for a “good case.” We will explore the factors and issues that can help you answer the question: “Should I hire a lawyer?” We will discuss medical payments coverage and explain why it is often best for your health insurance to initially cover your medical bills. We will review what you can do when a person causes a wreck and they do not have insurance or do not have adequate limits on their insurance policy. Additionally, we talk about what happens after the settlement and review things such as subrogation and medical liens. And of course, we review how attorneys fees in car accident cases.

Brenda continues to provide a free consultation. Those meetings may be scheduled at your convenience and online. However, if you are wanting free information to better understand your options when you’ve been in an accident, our new webinar will provide you with that opportunity. The workshops are entirely free, but pre-registration is required.

Please remember that in Virginia and in West Virginia you usually only have two years before you settle your injury case or file a suit in court in negligence cases, such as car accidents. This means that if you don’t act within that time, you will never be able to recover. Be sure to follow up quickly. Another warning—be sure to consult with a lawyer before they sign off on any document, even a release of their medical information! It is important to understand exactly what you are giving up when you sign off on any legal document.

Please contact us before you make a decision. There is no cost to meet with Brenda or attend the webinar. Be sure to understand your rights!
